The Program for this week’s concert.

The temperature and the the wind were both perfect tonight for another concert at the Breitung Park in Negaunee.  Director Brandon Nelson programmed a few classic marches by Karl King and John Phillip Sousa, as well as lesser known but still great pieces like The Rakes of Mallow Leroy Anderson.

Emcee Gerry Anderson took a little time to introduce the individual members of the band, and to tell a few band related jokes as well.

The City Band donated this bass drum to the Negaunee Historical Society at the concert.  Thanks to Norman Andrew, we know that the drum was used when the band still practiced over Violetta’s Music Store on Iron Street, and he suspects it was in use before that as well.  The band retired this particular drum around 1999.  Negaunee Historical Society President Art Gischia accepted on behalf of the Society.
